Big Cinemas crosses global milestone of 500 screens

Following the Anil Ambani-led R-ADAG acquiring controlling stake in Reliance MediaWorks in 2005, Big Cinemas has witnessed a compounded annual growth rate of 100 per cent in the scale of its operations, the release said. Reliance MediaWorks Chief Executive Anil Arjun said "hitting the historic milestone of 500 Big Cinemas screens worldwide is hugely significant. This expansion underscores our attempts to build scale, quality, innovation and pioneering formats which improve the movie-going experience for audiences the world-over." While domestic expansion would be a thrust area for the company, it would also continue to expand its global footprint, Arjun said. The company is now proposing to scale-up Big Cinemas" network with plans to add a further 100 screens over the next year, the release said.
