Persistent sets up CoE for Android platform applications

Persistent Systems, providing software product development services, set up a Centre of Excellence (CoE) around the Android open mobile platform. Sensex pares gains; Hindalco up 4% “Assured by the strong market predictions and Android’s current growth rate, Persistent has invested in the CoE. “We are excited about the launch, and strongly believe, we can facilitate partner companies to expedite development on this rich and evolving platform,” said Dr R Venkateswaran, head - telecom & mobile business unit, Persistent Systems. Persistent has extensive expertise with the Android SDK, the developer device, tools, setups, builds, porting and features like maps, location, media, browser, accelerometer, UI and other application framework components. Two new applications developed by the CoE have been recently released in the Android market: ‘Knight Tour’ and ‘World of Web’ (WoW). They are available for download on the application store. Knight Tour has already recorded over 1,800 downloads by G1 users and WoW has seen more than 800 downloads.
